Retatrutide

What it is

A triple hormone receptor agonist that activates:

• GLP-1 receptors
• GIP receptors
• Glucagon receptors

It's currently in Phase III clinical trials by Eli Lilly.

How it works

Unlike Ozempic (GLP-1 only) or Tirzepatide (GLP-1 + GIP), Retatrutide activates all three systems.

This causes:

• Appetite suppression
• Slower stomach emptying
• Increased insulin sensitivity
• Increased calorie burning
• Increased fat oxidation

The glucagon component actually raises energy expenditure, which is one reason it has shown greater weight loss than earlier GLP-1 drugs.
